At NATS, we operate an Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) accredited Engineering Technician Scheme, which runs over approximately 18 months and combines formal training and work placements.

During the scheme you will receive theoretical and practical training on a range of electronic equipment and activities which may include, installing, maintaining and operating NATS equipment. You may also find yourself working with a team at a remote Radar or Radio Station, UK Airport or at one of the world's busiest Air Traffic Control Centres, Swanwick in Hampshire or Prestwick in Ayrshire, working on computer based systems. Wherever you work, you'll gain a variety of training and experience which will provide you with an excellent foundation in Engineering. On successful completion of the scheme, you'll graduate to work as an Air Traffic Control Engineer within one of the following or related disciplines.

  • Voice Communications
  • RADAR
  • Flight/Radar Data Systems
  • Project Support

Applications open between January and April with interviews between May and June for a September intake.
