Training and development

Our structured, IET-accredited training programmes will teach you the skills that will form the bedrock for your future career. We'll also actively encourage you to become a Chartered Engineer and provide detailed departmental training in industry-specific topics, as well as general training in areas such as Engineering Systems and Air Traffic Control familiarisation.
Throughout the programme, you'll learn many of the advanced engineering practices that make us a world leader. This will involve visiting various operational sites, including airports, radar sites and national control centres and offices - both here and overseas. There may also be an element of formal, classroom-based courses aimed at developing your softer skills, including project management, presentation skills, influencing skills, and effective writing.
But not everything is set in stone. We believe choice is important, so you'll get the chance to shape the structure of the training scheme for yourself and future students through our graduate forum.
You'll also be assigned your own personal buddy - either a recent graduate or former placement student - to help you through your first few months. This support will be supplemented by ongoing career mentoring from a senior figure within the company.
